GEORGE TOWN, Jan 27 — With encouragement and guidance from his friends in the art world, newcomer Koay Sheng Tat is working towards the next stage of his career through sheer determination and diligence. As a true blue Penangite, his solo exhibition 'The Enduring Charm' was launched at Galeri Seni Mutiara in 118 Armenian Street, George Town. ART enthusiasts can view the works of artist Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa at his first solo exhibition, entitled Loccan, at Galeri Seni Mutiara, Armenian Street, Penang. The artworks feature motifs found in traditional batik sarongs produced and worn in the early 1990s. The 'Serenity' masterpiece, depicting a bird and floral motifs by Mohd Najib.   The 10-day exhibition, to be held until April 6, focuses on plant, bird and floral motifs, which according to Mohamed Najib, were meant to convey messages known only to the community of that era. “Through research, I’ve found that the motifs decorating the sa-rongs convey certain messages. “The dual functions of these motifs as decoration and
